Curriculum is WHAT we teach. Differentiation is HOW we teach. The how is very different from the what. The Standards of Learning clearly defines our what. How we teach those standards, however, is up to us. By creating many different paths for students to learn, we can help ALL students achieve.
Technology can help us create different paths. Times have changed so much. We used to be limited to textbooks. Now, there is so much out there to help us teach, enhance, and explore. The possibilities seem endless! Using technology in the classroom and beyond helps to capture the minds of our students. It helps them learn the same material, but in different ways. Ways that textbooks just cannot. Technology helps them make connections that textbooks cannot. Through quests, power points, blogs, virtual field trips, virtual labs, videos, and songs (just to name a few), learners become active. Technology allows learners to take an active role in their learning. Learners begin to make connections and begin to truly understand. |
